Forgive me if this question has been answered within the show but why does the Doctor
call Mickey an idiot?

Did Mickey do something? Other then get eating by a wheeley bin.

I didnt watch much Dr Who (series one anyway, i dislike Christpher as an actor.) but this statement has always baffled me.
